53* Pounds -
Gone in 3 Months
After having my second daughter, Lauren, I left the
hospital not being able to fit any of my clothes. Everyone told me
"It takes nine months to gain it, give yourself nine months to lose it".
Of course, that was not at all comforting. I was breastfeeding and no one
seemed to know what I could do to lose weight besides "eating right and
exercising". The pictures below are from left to right :
Before (tight 16) > 5 Weeks After > 14 Months later
(size 8).

I had recently been laid off of work and we were barely
surviving on just my husband's income... and eating healthy foods costs
more than buying foods high in sugar, carbohydrates, and fat. I
wasted my money on SlimFast, which just made me feel sluggish and hungry
thirty minutes later. I had tried Metabolite and Metabolife before I
was pregnant, but I felt jittery and couldn't take the products while
breastfeeding. Everything that I could take, I did, but the products
didn't work. Everything else was too expensive for a one-income
family of four.

By the time Lauren was ten months old, I was so
depressed from being overweight and having no energy, I was taking Prozac
and other antidepressants. I went to bed with the kids at 8:00 pm
and wasn't able to drag myself out of bed when my then three year old,
Savannah, woke up at 7:30 am. I spent my days trying to stay
awake to take care of the kids and looking at the clock, counting the
minutes until their bed times so I could go back to sleep.
I was so unhappy. The kids and I did nothing all
day but watch TV because I didn't have the energy to take them anywhere.
I vividly remember sitting on the couch, breastfeeding Lauren, and falling
asleep sitting straight up and almost dropping the baby while Savannah
started getting into cabinets. The house was a mess because I didn't
have the energy to clean, the kids were neglected, my husband was
neglected... our sex life went from wonderful, fulfilling and almost daily
to nonexistent, if ever, and separation and divorce became frequent topics
of discussion... everyone was miserable.
I
was weighing in at 215 pounds on my 5' 4" body. I was embarrassed to
be wearing a tight size 16 jeans, relaxed fit no less. Instead of
spending money on weightloss products, I saved on groceries.
Within my first three days, I felt better than I had in
a year. I took the kids to the park for the first time in months...
and Savannah was ready to go before I was! Two weeks later, I was 20
pounds lighter, wearing a comfortable size 14 and
completely
off of antidepressants. By the end of three months, I was wearing a
nicely fitting size 10 and weighing 162 pounds. The best part was
that I wasn't starving or drooling over the kids' lunches and was able to
eat meals with my family.
I lost 53 pounds in
just three months. Of course, I looked so good and felt
so good that six months later, I found out I was pregnant with our third
daughter, Morgan. I continued throughout my pregnancy and left the
hospital with only 7 pounds to lose (even though I gained 35 pounds), the
first time out of three children that I lost more than what the baby
weighed before going home!
Motherhood. What a wonderful thing.
Enjoy it!
